Walking hyper fast, trolley race style, at Miranda Westfield, a shopping mall 15 mins from our house, I screeeetched to a stop when I saw these weird looking fruits. The had a special paper saying how miraculous they were: cures everything, makes you feel 100%, etc, etc.
I thought, another so called superfood, I’m so allergic to this health marketing. I’m not buying that… but curiosity killed the cat and emptied my wallet. I bought 5, one for each of us to try.
These are Léonore (4) little hand holding this plum looking fruit. It taste a bit like a mix between apple and dried date.
The drama is… I cannot remember at all the name of it.
Readers to the rescue!!! Would you know what that is?
This was my mystery fruit post…
UPDATE !!!
Thank to my friend Catherine @myfrenchrituals who did some research and posted it on The Flo Show’s Instagram, I can now reveal what the mystery fruit was a Jujube also called Chinese apple or Chinese date and for good reasons: it really tastes like a mix of both.
With a much higher content in vitamin C than citrus, it seems to be a very interesting fruit which, according to Wikipedia, has been used in many sorts of recipes all around the world. It is used cooked or raw, for sweet or savoury dishes.
Let me experiment and get back to you!
