Wendell and I had a wonderful night (with no kids) at Ananas, a stylish French restaurant is a touristic part of Sydney called The Rocks. We loved our meals, the atmosphere and the wonderful service.
The extraordinary decor, including a painting representing a rooster by famous Australian artist XXX is a big part of the experience. The collection of lamps, being ceiling lamps or pineapple (Ananas in French) table lamps is very impressive.
I chose a côte de boeuf (beef whole thick rib) which had a fricassée of (paned) mushrooms, a very silky bowl of mashed potatoes and Béarnaise sauce (a bit like Hollandaise but with tarragon). It had fresh thyme and rosemary on top which was such a good idea, so simple and delicious.
It was possible the best piece of meat I had in Sydney so far.
I asked blue (just seared) and it was served blue, impeccably caramelised on top and bottom, and beautifully tender and tasty inside. I looooved it!!!
The “Trio d’éclairs” was a gorgeous dessert. I am an éclair addict and a fussy one. It was delicious.
I recommend this restaurant, even if it expensive, for the beautiful food and the sophisticated atmosphere.
